A Screen International Star of Tomorrow and award-winning filmmaker, Anwar made an immediate impact with his first short film A Short Guide to Re-Entry, which won the International Bill Douglas Award (Jury award) and the International Audience Award at the Glasgow Short Film Festival and played at international festivals worldwide. His second short, Templates, made in collaboration with Film London and the BFI Network, premiered at Encounters Film Festival. His television work includes directing A Mother’s Love for Channel 4’s On the Edge anthology, and directing for the BBC.
Anwar was selected for and participated in the 34th edition of the Cannes Cinéfondation Residence in Paris. He has developed scripts with Film4 and the BFI.
Anwar has taught Documentary Filmmaking at Met Film School, and previously worked in documentaries. He has participated in talent labs at the Edinburgh and Toronto international film festivals.
